The Coral Sea Islands constitute an Australian territory made up of a series of islands and reefs, located in the Coral Sea, northeast of the state of Queensland, in the southern and eastern part of the Great Barrier Reef. The territory occupies an area of 780,000 km2 and includes Heralds Beacon Island, Osprey Reef, the Willis group and 15 other groups of islands/reefs.
